2015 NFL season
The Carolina Panthers are a professional American football team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Panthers compete in the National Football League, as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference South division. The team is headquartered in Bank of America Stadium in uptown Charlotte; also the site of all home games. The team joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1995 along with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
2016 NFL season
After a disappointing 7-8-1 season in 2015, the Carolina Panthers will look to get back on track in 2016. They’ll have a new head coach in Ron Rivera, and will be without star wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, who was lost for the season to a torn ACL in training camp. Cam Newton will have to carry the offense, and the defense will look to remain one of the best in the league.
New England Patriots

The New England Patriots finished the 2019 regular season with a record of 12–4, their 17th consecutive season with a winning record. They also extended their streak of winning 10+ games to 18 consecutive seasons, an NFL record. The Patriots clinched their 15th consecutive AFC East title, extending their own NFL record. They also clinched a first-round bye for the sixth straight year. In the playoffs, they defeated the Tennessee Titans in the Wild Card round and the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round before losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.
In 2020, the Patriots are scheduled to play the defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, in Mexico City as part of the NFL’s International Series. The game will mark the first time in franchise history that the Patriots will play a regular season game outside of the United States.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is dealing with a mid-foot sprain and will be sidelined for at least two weeks, coach Ron Rivera said Thursday.
Newton aggravated the injury, which he originally suffered in the preseason, in the first half of last Sunday’s 30-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He did not return to the game after halftime and was seen on the sideline in a walking boot and using a cane.
“Obviously, we’re going to err on the side of caution here,” Rivera said. “We don’t want this thing to linger. We want to make sure he’s healthy.”
Rivera said Newton will not need surgery, but the quarterback will be sidelined for at least Carolina’s next two games against the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars. Rookie backup Kyle Allen will start in Newton’s place.
Quarterback Cam Newton has been rumored to be considering retirement, according to a report from NFL insider Jay Glazer.
The 31-year-old Newton has been beset by injuries in recent years, including a Lisfranc sprain in his foot that caused him to miss the final two months of the 2019 season. He also missed 14 games in 2018 with a shoulder injury.
Newton is signed through the 2020 season, but his $18.6 million base salary for next year is fully guaranteed. If he retires, he would owe the Panthers $3 million in bonus money.
The Panthers have said they are planning on Newton being their starting quarterback next season, but if he does retire, they would likely turn to backup Teddy Bridgewater as their starter.
