Spring game-breakers: Cougars quarterback Robby Hicks was sharp, completing 6 of 10 passes for 111 yards and one touchdown in the first half. His scoring pass came on a 48-yarder to Marreio Taylor on a slant pattern in which Taylor broke two tackles. Taylor finished with three catches for 82 yards. … Ryan Pandy showed off his leg with a 56-yard field goal in the first quarter that had room to spare and gave the Cougars a 3-0 lead. … In the second quarter, the Cougars scored on a 2-yard run by Mike Tsalickis and a 65-yard interception return by Ryan Yates. … Herb Daniels had two rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter. … Tarpon Springs had one nice drive in the first half that ended with a blocked field goal. … Kenyatta Merriex was the Spongers’ biggest playmaker, hauling in three passes for 44 yards and returning a kickoff 80 yards. … Tarpon Springs had a touchdown wiped out in the final minute because of a penalty. The Spongers settled for a 43-yard field goal by Louis Zervos as time expired.
